This painting started as a small, 5×7″ intuitive sketch in my journal. Part of the sketch revealed a figure seated within a boat on the sea. a long hand reaching down through the clouds to steady her. And so I painted Steady as She Goes

I often create a work by first making marks in charcoal. A process of creative intuition perhaps. I follow the marks, smudge them, and then wait. Always,images appear and I follow their lead. Here, it seems that deer totems are speaking to me, or perhaps, you.

Journey is a major theme in many of my paintings. Here, an ethereal female figure stands strong within the storm. A cancelled visa page billows as the sail. And the boat, she is called Annule. The journey is often treacherous but, We Are Not Alone.
